Save Water With These Bathroom Tips

If you dread receiving your utility bills, especially water, you have come to the right place, as we take a look at ways that you can save a few litres of this precious liquid on your monthly water bill. We all need to do what we can to save precious natural resources like water, which is the staff of life and there are a few small things that you can do to reduce your water usage.

Install Water-Saving Shower Heads

Perhaps the best way to reduce the amount of water you use in the shower is to order a special shower head with very fine water jets. Not only do you save water, the high-powered jets give you an invigorating shower experience, making it a win-win. You can find shower heads at your local bathroom store in Weybridge, along with some cook bathroom fixtures and fittings.

Reduce The Frequency Of Bathing

Some people love a hot soak every evening after work, which will send your water bill through the roof. Consider taking a shower 3 nights, limiting your hot soaks to twice a week, and in the summer, always take showers instead of baths.

Take Shallow Baths

You would be surprised at how much water you can save by turning off the taps earlier than normal. Just a couple of inches makes all the difference and you should mention this to other family members. We all tend to take water for granted, yet in some parts of the world, people have to carry their daily water for a few miles.

Short-Time Showers

You could be wasting as much as 10 gallons of water for every minute the shower is running, so get wet, lather up, rinse down and turn off the water. It is nice to stand under a nice hot shower and simply enjoy the feeling, but that will result in higher bills for both water and heating.

Check For Leaks

Take a look at walls and ceilings, looking for damp patches that would point to a minor leak. If your bathroom sink tap has a constant drip, take a trip to your local bathroom store, where you will find a wide range of faucets, some that are designed to save water. Failing that, replace the washer on the tap to stop the constant drip and keep your water bill down; dripping taps damage porcelain, so if your taps are dripping, head out to the bathroom store and sort out replacements.

Brushing Your Teeth

How can you use less water when brushing your teeth? Start by wetting the toothbrush lightly and turn off the tap. When you are ready to rinse, use a small amount prepared in a glass. A single occupant might not save much with this mini-hack, but a family of four would save considerably more.

Steam Showers

A steam shower uses water vapour and this results in a slight saving on the amount of water. If you have yet to try a steam shower, your local bathroom store would stock a range of digital showers that are designed to save water.

If you are planning a bathroom renovation, this is the perfect time to implement some of the above. You will find everything bathroom-related at your local bathroom showroom. From luxury stand-alone baths to digital showers and a wide range of vanities and storage units, the store would have everything you need.

Some might say that the water you save is very little, but if every household in the UK focused on saving water, that adds up to a few reservoirs.
